December 101 things Update

Be Healthy
3. Stop taking everything so personally
As hokey as Im sure you will think it... the more I do the stuff from Eckhart Tolle's books the easier this one becomes... this is one of my biggest problems in maintaining my personal relationships, so I really need to iorn it out... however, I have a feeling this will be a lifelong goal, but I guess thats ok.

20. Do the 100 push ups program for 6 weeks (0/6)
I started this for a couple of days and quit it... it was too hard... I wanna start again... just not sure when, so its going back to black.

30. Keep a food diary every day for 1 month, 3 times (0/3)
I started this one today... lets see how it goes, right now its just a note in my schedule I carry around with me... and Im doing it to make me use my schedule more often... kill two birds with one stone.

36. Go to yoga 5-6 days a week for one month (20/30)
I went to yoga for 5 says a week for one month... that was 20 days in a month... so I wrote 20/30... cause I wish I could go for 30 days straight, but my work schedule and my yoga studio's schedule dont allow it

63. Take my vitamins every day
This is SOOOOO hard.... Does anyone have any tips... I took mine today, but I know I will forget tomorrow... how do you do it?

66. Identify 100 things that make me happy (17/100)
67. Make a list of 50 things I like about myself (10/50)
I added a couple more things to these lists... they are hard... good thing I have such a long time to fix them up

75. Get all of my cavities and fillings taken care of
76. Go to the dentist for 5 regular cleanings (0/5)
Finally these are yellow... I made an appointment for this Monday for a cleaning and to hear the bad news... Im not too happy about it, but it has to be done... maybe some day I can go to the dentist without fear, but these days its all about fear... the pain in my mouth is not a good sign :(

81. Stop picking my skin
So, I did a really good job with this over the last month, but about 1-2 weeks ago, I started up again. I think it is definitely a sign on anxiety... This time of year I have a lot of anxiety, cause I haven't finished my xmas shopping and for me thats a serious problem since I live so far away, my family wont get any presents from me until next year I think :( and that makes me sad

84. Do a standing bow pose like this and have the confidence to wear something like that when I do it!
So, yesterday in Yoga class my teacher helped me with this pose and I think I did a really good job... my back is getting a lot stronger and more flexible which is important for this pose, and the same can be said for my legs... though I think they need to be a lot stronger and stretchier before I can do this pose like in the picture... I practice lots of other poses to try and improve my body for this one pose... I know, its crazy, but I just love the way that woman looks in that photo, so DAMN strong!!!

Charity stuff
48. Volunteer at least once a month (6/30)
Teaching my kids every weekend makes fulfilling this really easy... once I hit 30 on the counter though I can't stop... I still wanna do something each month... so I dont know what number it will be at when I decide to make it blue

98. Lend $2,500 with Kiva ($400/$2,500)
So, I forgot to lend money in November, but thats ok... I will do my December lending when I finish this post.

Learn new stuff
24. Read a book in French
I started reading "The Little Prince" in French, but I dont think that counts... Its just practice, and its REALLY hard... but when I find a book that I think counts I will make this yellow

50. Be brave, start playing my flute again. Practice 4 times a week for at least 8 weeks. (0/8)
So, I brought my flute back from America and I still haven't found someone to teach me... I just added find teacher to my todo list... I think I will tell my self each day, if I dont do something from my todo list then I cant go to yoga... then probably I will pay more attention to that list, cause I really wanna do well in yoga!

93. Have a conversation with someone in a language other than English
I recently started formalish Korean lessons with one of my friends and I have a friend who is a Japanese teacher and we are getting closer, so I hope she will meet with me and help me relearn Japanese soon!!! And, one of my co-workers is a Korean guy who grew up in Ecuador, so he speaks perfect Spanish and he told me he would teach me Spanish... so I think I might take him up on that offer... this is BY FAR my most favorite thing about this job, the exposure I get to foreigners, their language and their culture... I cant get enough of it!

Learn how to be a girl
14. Buy 2 new pairs of shoes, that I can wear with skirts/dresses or pants (0/2)
I put this one back to zero cause I bought some shoes, but I cant wear them to work cause they are too sandal like... back to the drawing board... I really want vegan shoes too... especially Earth shoes... but its hard to chose them from abroad!

Do something new

Im not doing so well with this category... oh well, I guess Im too busy, but I have time

Save the planet
58. Vote once a year (0/3)
so, yeah I failed here and didn't vote for Obama... sorry

62. Keep a count of every plastic bag I use (2008-64)
I am doing TERRIBLE with this.. but now I have my new schedule I am going to keep track of it on paper now for each month and add it at least once a month... cause trying to do it every day was a failure!

Finish it!!!

60. Complete at least 3 cross stitch projects (0/3)
I started my cross stitch project again, I organised my string box too, so its easier to use... I am going to do a little each week,.. it really helps to relax me... I just need to get a nice lamp by my bed so I can do it before bed...

71. Choose topic and research for Master's thesis
72. Write outline for Master's thesis
100. Write thesis for master's degree (0/10 pages)
These are not going so well... I have to start sending weekly emails to my grad professor... Im starting to get afraid that I made a really big mistake leaving America before finishing my degree... maybe writing this paper from far away will be MUCH harder than I thought.

Go Places

7. Visit a museum every other month (1/15)
I went to a really nice palace here in Korea last Sunday, Changdeokgung Palace. Its famous for being a world heritage site and Im sure for many other reasons... unfortunatly it was pretty cold, so I didn't enjoy it as much as if it was winter, but it was a really beautiful place with awesome trees!! We couldnt walk around on our own either, it was only a guided tour, I really wanted to explore it on my

Organize my life

1. Mail out Christmas cards every year (1/3)
YAY! I did it this year!!!

5. Organize the files on my computer every 3 months (1/10[dec 19])
I organized both my home and work computer for the first time... maybe I could have done a better job, I don't know

34. Keep less than 5 emails in my in-boxes each day.
(Im trying!)
I've been doing a lot better with this in the last week or so, but its not an easy one... but I always have this goal to think about, I think I should unsubscribe from a lot of mailings that I dont read... I tend to delete them 90% of the time without reading them.

73. Do chores on a regular basis
Yeah... Im not doing a good job here... I was doing much better before... I have issues!

86. Teach my cats to pee in the toilet
Man I want to accomplish this one... I have to try and fabricate something to try it out...

Financial stuff
95. Save and invest $25,000 ($0/$25,000)
So, I have money that I dont use and I keep it in my savings account, but since I am not sending money back to America these days due to the really crappy exchange rate I have to keep taking money out... so I dont know how to decide what is an what is not savings.... any ideas?

Personal enrichment

27. Write in a Journal every day for a month, three times (0/3)
This one is back to black... I suck at writing in a journal (and my blog) on a regular basis... and I am also considering changing the goal to every other day or 3 times a week... I really dont think my life is that interesting that I would have much to say each day... I think I need to buy a desk that I can sit at when I go home, that might change things...

94. Write a short story
Im afraid to mention it, but I started writing a story... though I dont think its very good... so this is staying black for now

List related stuff

31. Write monthly updates of 101 progress (3/33)[dec]
40. Read this whole list at least once a week (7[12/19])
101. Make new list April 17, 2011

I was only kidding about you deleting my post ...most likely I didn't hit the send button. So, to the best of my memory this is what I wrote.

First of all I want to thank you for introducing me to the 101 goals list, blogging, kiva ...I'm sure the list could go on and on but you get the idea. You find these great things and pass them on, so not only are you improving yourself you are helping others improve too!

3. Stop taking everything so personally - This is such an important goal for us all ...so often we get in a funk over something we took personally that wasn't meant to be. Maybe if we listened more to the things directed to us and we would have less time to think about the things that weren't.

36. Go to yoga 5-6 days a week for one month (20/30) - FANTASTIC!!! I could see such a difference in the tone of your body in November ...it is so worth all the effort you are putting into it.

63. Take my vitamins every day - What is the first thing you do in the morning?? Set your vitamins and a glass right there and you'll be sure to take them.

75. Get all of my cavities and fillings taken care of
76. Go to the dentist for 5 regular cleanings (0/5) - Hmm ...looks like I didn't stress enough about dental care when you were younger. Put your floss right next to where you sit in the evening, in plain sight and then you;ll never forget to floss. Maybe on the PS2 joystick ;)

48. Volunteer at least once a month (6/30) - One of those things that shows what a wonderful person you are and how much you care about others. Setting aside each Saturday to teach children english is such a selfless thing ..give yourself a nice hug from me!

50. Be brave, start playing my flute again. Practice 4 times a week for at least 8 weeks. (0/8) - Yes, yes, yes ...listening to you play the flute and Joan the clarinet was one of my favorite things. If you practice, I bet it will come back to you and then you can play me a song next time I see you. Ian Anderson would be very nice.

Organize my life - the more organized you are the more time you have for the fun things. When you showed me your binder with all your important papers I knew that eventually organization would become a part of your life. Little steps add up to a big difference so just keep doing what you are, before you know it it will be second nature and you'll wonder what to do with all your extra time.

73. Do chores on a regular basis - For the most part I have followed the same household schedule I started waaay back when I stopped working. It may sound boring, but there is a good feeling knowing that the laundry is always done on one day, the cleaning on another, etc. That way it's more difficult not to do something because it's a habit ...one of the ones you want and not one of those nasty habits that take 35 years to break!!

86. Teach my cats to pee in the toilet - Arrgh ...that word!!!! NOOOOOOO!!! :)

95. Save and invest $25,000 ($0/$25,000) - Can't you open up another account that you can keep your savings in? That way you would have an acct for spending/bills and one for saving that you don't withdraw from.

27. Write in a Journal every day for a month, three times - I think this is something that is best not to be forced. Maybe a goal of once a week unless the spirit moves you would work.

94. Write a short story - What a wonderful goal!! Don't short sell yourself ...I doubt Steven King thought his first attempt was good either. I would love to read what you've written ...and you know I won't be biased, it's not like I think everything you do is wonderful!!!

You are doing an amazing job here. Life is all about growing, learning and teaching ...I think you have made that a part of your life ..not only on your blog or your lists but in your day to day life. Sit back a second and smile a smile for me ...you are a terrific woman and I am so proud of you ...I love you tons!!
