Bikram, day 2

Well, I went back today, and I paid the 360 bucks for a 4 month membership... I better be serious about this one... but if I'm not then I will learn another lesson! Well I had a different teacher today (by the looks of it you get a different teacher a lot, which I guess keeps thinks interesting) She was pretty nice and had a pleasant voice, but not as motivating as yesterday's teacher. But she did describe some of the poses better... I think I will learn different things from each teacher, which is good.

About 15 min into today's class I found myself asking "Why did I want to do this again!? This is torture!" But, just like yesterday, during the last 15 min I was saying "Wow, this really isn't that bad... I can't wait to come back tomorrow!" I have never done an exercise that made me feel like that... that made me work so hard I wanted to quit and also made me think that is really wasn't that big of a deal at the end. Also, In only one day I was less dizzy and could do more of the poses, I sat down less and pushed more. So obviously my body hurts more today than yesterday. But I think I am still getting used to the heat... I am getting small spots on my skin, they were darker yesterday than today, so I think they are related to getting acclimated to the heat... I dunno... Another strange thing about this, when I was a kid I did choir (and I loved it) but the concerts were generally longer than the practice and we had to stand the whole time. My legs always itched horribly when I was up there and I hated that feeling, and even sometimes when I stand to long my legs itch still. Well yesterday the same thing happened in the class... and since I was wearing shorts and there are mirrors everywhere I also noticed that my legs turned bright red! Well today there was less itching, but still redness, but it started to fade faster than yesterday... I think this must be related to my poor circulation... like the blood is building up in my legs from standing. I am interested in whether or not this condition will improve. On the up side I also could do more with my knees, and there was less pain (during and after class) than yesterday... all that in one day... strange! I had read many testimonials where people said similar things as I am and I didn't believe they could experience such change in only one class... but I am becoming a believer. Bikram is trying to get research grants to have people study and scientifically verify the health effects of his style of yoga. I look forward to seeing the data.

I also had Korean class today. There is a French student, a Turkish student, a Scottish student, and me and John, so it is pretty interesting. There used to be another American and a Japanese girl, but they are both out this month... I am sad to lose the Japanese student, we were becoming friends... Anyway, I am learning how to give directions in Korean now... which is really really hard! There is a lot of vocab in this chapter and I don't study enough!

You know, this is a great way to get my laundry done! I just noticed that the load will be done in 10 min (the cycle takes an astonishing 50 min!) and then I can go to sleep... good way to wait it out.

I will write about China this weekend, when I have less to do and more time to chat. I love you all.

You made me dizzy reading about your yoga class. It sounds like a great experience :)
